Team International

ANDERS BRINGDAL I started windsurf 1980 in Stockholm Sweden.
Getting early into Competition sailing having lots of fun with the sport I ended up winning the 1984 Div II championships in Kenya..
From that I ended up taking a new route and left the long board sailing in favor of the fun boards.
1985 I won the amateur championships in Lake Garda and then went onto my first world cup in Sylt.
After a doing ok, I ended up 3rd in the course racing just after RN and Tim Augusen who at the time was the man to beat I ended up turning pro for the following season.
From the years 1986-2000. I did it pretty much all...
I won the Slalom Title/course racing title and had my best showing as 3rd in the waves over all.
Over all in the top 2 for 10 years, top 5 for 3 years..
4 years, 4th at the Aloha Classic in Maui Hawaii.
2000, 1st Aloha classic
1996, 1 st in Diamond head wave classic, Oahu
From 1996 I spent most of my winters in Hawaii surfing and sailing Jaws.

On a professional level I have been in charge of sail testing for Neil Pryde 1988-1992
Gaastra, 1993-1995.
Simmer Style, 1996-2000.
Then I took a break from the windsurfing to get my body back into form as I had more and more trouble with my back.
During those years I spend some good times racing on the wally class boats in the med and in Scandinavia. Traveling the world in the off season and only started to get back into windsurfing 2 years later.
2003 I started up AB+ windsurfing boards out of a factory in China and even though the fist boards came out great the consistency was terrible so I ended up 3 years later stopping the production and moving factory.
Now a year into working with my new factory in Vietnam things are really taking off. Dew to the great quality of the boards I got the eye of Mistral boards.
After a little time of sorting things out I ended up with the world wide license for Mistral boards...
In the middle of setting this up I also have done some good sailing with the Hydroptere as I have been part of the crew for about a year now.
2 New world speed records, 51,36 on the 500m
48,74 on the Nautical mile that we now have passed again. New record for the Mile is 50,17 knots.
Mix that with my 3rd in the world champion ships in Karpathos with the Mistral 47 and the new Challenger Aero+ and now the 2009 speed tour win. I have had a pretty good year.

CESARE CANTAGALLI

Cesare Cantagalli, born in 1968 in Faenza, is undoubtedly an icon of International Windsurfing and indeed the most famous Italian athlete of this discipline.

Following the release of John Milius's 1978 film 'Big Wednesday', the entire Cantagalli family were captivated by this new sport during a stay in Marina di Ravenna. They were inspired by the film to attempt surfing themselves and they all took to their boards. However, it was soon clear that Cesare, at just nine years old, had a natural talent for surfing, and he took up the sport with an enthusiasm and passion that has carried him forward and helped him to achieve international success.

Almost immediately he was top of the national podium in all windsurf categories for three successive seasons. At just 14 Cesare moved to Hawaii, the Mecca of windsurfing that is often considered to be an open air gym for training the world’s greatest champions. It is here that Cesare would be become just that.

In 1986, Cesare, endowed with his “classic Italian” inspiration and creative impulse, invented a completely new and truly spectacular acrobatic move; the first ever forward rotation in the history of windsurfing. It was initially called the “Killer Loop” but later, in virtue of its origin, it was aptly coined “Cheeseroll” from “Cesare Roll”. This manoeuvre inspired a new vein of moves, brought impetus and spectacularity into this sport and, of course, catapulted Cesare towards inventing radical new aerial moves.

Cesare then spent over 10 years traveling extensively in order to participate in all that counted on the world circuit. The World Cup tour became his classroom and his school of life, stimulating his curiosity about the world whilst also enabling him to compete to gain a place among the world’s top five windsurfers. This gave him the opportunity to break waves with some of the most famous athletes in history, and victories in South Africa, Barbados, Japan and many other places gained him 4th place overall “Wave” in 1989 and 1990.

After securing his place in the (albeit brief) history of windsurfing, he decided to try some new experiences. He began to seek out both old and new places that better suited the abilities of an accomplished surfer - more often than not they were a long way away from mundane mainstream tourism.

'GLOB-O-TOUR' was established in 1994 to harness this zealous spirit. Inspired by nothing other than wind, water and nature, and drawing upon Cesare's natural talent, eight years of experience and acute eye for the needs of others (as well as plenty of adrenalin!), the media project was born. So intent on getting it right, Cesare personally directs and produces the videos and oversees all related publications with the media.

He also dedicates his time to another media project, 'BLUES', which follows the 'KiteSurf' sport. Unable to resist the challenge of 'KiteSurf', what began as a spin-off discipline has also become a part of Cesare's life.

Cesare designs and produce the outlook of all Challenger Sails range as well as adverts. By looking at the gallery you can simply notice how Cesare is still active out there with his testing and tyechnical imputs on the wave sails.
