Eugenio Marceni is a young freestyle talent in the ChallengerSails team. He lives and windsurfs in Senigallia, where the Challenger head quarter is located. He won the under 20 category in the first tour stop of the Italian freestyle Championship tour at the famous Pier,at Lake Garda, May 26 – 27, 2018. We from ChallengerSails are very proud on Eugenio and had a chat with the number 1 in the youth category.
ChallengerSails: Big congrats to to the 1st place in the Italian Championship tour event at Lago di Garda. How are your emotions about that victory?
Eugenio Marconi: I’m very happy to win the first stop of the Italian Championship. I hope to do well in Sardinia, too.
ChallengerSails: How was it going during the competition and did you land the moves you wanted to land?
Eugenio Marconi: On Saturday 26th the wind was not too bad and I managed to land some of my best moves. On Sunday the wind dropped and we could sail only for one hour and we couldn’t start the double elimination.
ChallengerSails: What sail sizes did you use and how did the 4Pros work?
Eugenio Marconi: I used the 5.2m on both days. During the first day I was a bit overpowered, but thanks to the 4Pro I managed to land my moves and control the sail very well. On the second day I managed to plan in the very light wind conditions and was able to land some very good moves thanks to the powerful performance of the 4Pro Challenger. The 2018 version of the 4Pro is a really stable and comfortable sail during the moves.
ChallengerSails: Sounds great and we are more than happy that you like the 4Pro!! You were able to win the event at Lake Garda for the second time in a row. You won the event already in 2017! What will come next?
Eugenio Marconi: This was the first stop of the Italian freestyle Championship tour. The next and final one will take place in Sardinia in June. I will for sure be in Sardinia from 12th to 18 th June and I will do my best to confirm my title. Then I will go to Fuerteventura for the EFPT event in June. It will be my first experience in an European Freestyle Pro Tour (EFPT) competition and I’m really looking forward to be part of it.
ChallengerSails: You are still in school and the summer holidays will start soon! How and where will you spend them?
Eugenio Marconi: After Sardinia and Fuerteventura I will travel to Greece, as usual. This summer I will probably discover the windy beaches of Crete!
