PWA Viana do Castelo, Portugal, June 13 – 20
The PWA event in Portugal ran the 4th Men PWA Slalom of the 2018 season. The conditions were hardcore. Stormy wind up to 45 knots was really demanding for all riders and the PWA. The rider had a hard time to set their jibes exactly at the spot they wanted and we saw a lot of hard crashes, even on the straight reach. The 3 Challenger riders Maciek Rutkowski, Andrea Ferin and Josh Angulo gave it all on their AERO’s 5,6m and 6,2m. After 7 eliminations Maciek was the best ranked Challenger rider in 15th position. Josh Angulo made it in 37th and Andrea Ferin finished in 43rd.
Maciek jumped from 14th to 13th place in the overall ranking and is in touch with the top 10, what’s a fantastic success in his first season on ChallengerSails. Andrea lost some ground and lost 5 places. He is ranked 23rd overall. Josh improved and is ranked 37th.
The 5th tour stop will start in Sotavevto, Fuerteventura on July 31st. We can expect another high wind event and a lot of final s with the participation of Challenger riders. Good luck boys!!!
