Mattia Fabrizi, the 27 year old Italian freestyle and tow-in expert, had a great season in 2018. It was his first season on Challenger!! He jumped up in the ranking from a 13th overall in 2017 to a 9th overall in 2018. That’s a big result. He is the second best ranked Italian in the PWA freestyle overall ranking and has a secured place for 2019, when the men fleet will be reduced from 48 starters to 32 starters.
In the final event in Sylt, Germany Mattia managed to make it in 7th position in a difficult double elimination. Big congrats Mattia!!
ChallengerSails rider Mattia Fabrizi about his successful season 2018:
„The 2018 season is over. It was a long one. Yeah, it was really hard condition in Sylt this year! I’m really happy about my year breaking to the top 10 of the PWA freestyle ranking for the first time! With only two competitions in one year it is really hard to get two good results. You can’t make any mistakes. So the secret is to be consistent in every heat you do because now there are so many good guys out there that I think the top 20 in the world can battle for a spot in the top 10!“
Matt as well participated in the EFPT, theEuropean freestyle tour. He won the tow-in event in Austria and finished the tow-in ranking with 3 out of 4 events counting in great 2nd place.
In the windsurfing he is placed 6th overall – the third best Italian. Matt participated in all 7 EFPT windsurfing events and isn’t too far from the podium. Over the winter months the wild freestyler from Lago di Como will travel to South Africa an practice new moves. He as well will test new 4Pro sails and help Claudio Badiali to improve the freestyle sail for 2020.
